I took a two week vacation from work so that I could stay with Barbie's (my sister) kids for a little over a week while they were in Cancun. She has 5 kids and my 3 tagged along, so for about 9 days I was a mother to 8 (actually, mother to 9 on one of the days because my other little niece came and spent the night)!
I don't get to really visit my family in the thumb a ton because usually when we head up to Bad Axe or Ubly it is for a quick weekend and it's because we have something going on. So visits tend to be quick and rushed so that we can touch bases with most everyone before we head out of town. This time we had 9 days to visit and while it was a busy 9 days with dance classes, practices, basketball games, a snow day, homework, and the task of cooking for and cleaning up from 8 kids, we did manage to go and visit grandma twice, enjoy a spaghetti dinner with my sister Jeni's family, have my niece Leah over for a sleep over, and enjoy a brief visit from my sister-in-law Crystal and her 3 kids. Since it was parent observation week, Carson and I got to watch Alivia dance. We also got to see Jesse, Austin, Bailey, and my niece's bf Mitchel play in their bball games. Unfortunately Nicole and Mikayla's home bball games were rescheduled b/c of the snow day so we didn't get to see them play :( We still plan to make it to one yet this year tho.
When we weren't busy visiting or attending extra cirricular activies, we found time to play in the snow, ride snowmobiles, bake, paint, play with play doh, go out to lunch at Pizza Hut, play webkinz (i think at one time three computers were logged on), and watch more Dora and Diego episodes than Barbie's kids ever wanted to see.

While some may question the use if the word "vacation" in such context, I would certainly call it such. Everyone enoyed being able to spend the week togther and it was a nice break from the daily grind of taking the kids to dyacare and gonig to work. And when truth be told, vacations aren't usually all that relaxing anyway.
