Fun at the Cider Mill

We decided to take a break from the Saturday routine of college football and take the kids to Uncle Johns Cider Mill in St Johns. We spent the whole afternoon there enjoying all the activities, and of course, the cider and doughnuts too. It was the kids first trip to a corn maze so we all had a lot of fun with that. Brian and I let the kids lead the way and after being led all the way to the farthest end of the maze Carson decided he was going to use the map to find our way out. And while we did find our way out, it ended up being out the same entrance we came in rather than the exit. Christian inists that if he had the map we would have made it to the exit so I guess we have a challenge for next time. All in all, It was great way to spend a fall Saturday.

Schoolwork

Isabelle and Christian brought home some of their first "assignments" yesterday and I thought they were too cute not to share. They were supposed to draw a picture of theirself with their favorite animal. Just in case you can't tell, Isabelle drew a tiger and Christian drew penguins. Chris was sure to tell me that the bottom penguin is upside down because it is diving in the water for fish. Its amazing how old and grown up they seem now. Seems like just yesterday they were scribbling.

Our Little Begindergarteners

With Christian and Isabelle's fifth birthday in sight it was time to send them off to what they call "big kid school". Since they are on the younger side, Brian and I decided to enroll them in the Begindergarten program at Okemos. Their first official day was Sept. 7 and Brian and I both took the day off work to take them.

Here they are enthusiatic and ready to go:

It was adorable the way they walked hand in hand into school. I think having eachother made the day much easier.

They were very proud of their new backpacks. Chris picked out Bakugan and Izzy opted for Hello Kitty.

They nervously fidgeted and enjoyed their first of many story times.

Overall, it was a successful first day. They seemed happy to be there and caught on to the routine of the day quite easily. And since parents got to stay for the whole day, I managed to get through the day without the waterworks.

Back to Blogging

After a rather long hiatus from blogging, I figured it was time to take another crack at it. Here's a few of things we've done since we've been gone.

January
We had a fun visit with The Ferris family while they were visiting from Nashville.

February
Took the kids to their first Pistons game. We were joined by some of their fave cousins and Aunt Barbie & Uncle Gary.

March
Celebrated Carson's third birthday at the circus.

April
Yay, spring weather was finally upon us. Took a trip to Potter Park, hit up the bowling alley, and just enjoyed being outside.

May
It was actually warm enough to start doing what we do best, hang out at Hawk Island and Lake Lansing. We were getting our swim and tan on very early this year. Loved it!!

June
Enjoyed some paddleboating, rollerskating (decided they were still a little young for this!!) and of course more beach time.

July
Had my first coaching gig with the kids t-ball team. (Brian helped, of course). Took in some fireworks and and 4th of July Parade. Spent time with the family celebrating my nieces HS graduation. Had fun with some putt putt, go karts, & arcade games. Headed to Detroit to watch the Tigers play. And spent countless hours at the pool and beach.

August
Had a fun filled family reunion weekend in Ubly- swimming, campfires, great food, cocktails & beer. And no pictures because I lost my camera sometime at the end of July :(
And that brings us to September and Chris and Izzy's first day of school. Stay tuned...
